Dariusz Mazurkiewicz received the title of professor
By the decision of July 4, 2022, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded Dariusz Mazurkiewicz with the title of professor of engineering and technical sciences.
Prof. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz has associated almost his entire professional life with Lublin University of Technology. After graduating in 1991, he began an industrial internship at the Bogdanka mine, during which he passed several professional exams, thus obtaining approval of the District Mining Office for an underground supervision employee. In 1992, he was offered to continue his professional career at the Department of Mining and Drilling Machines, LUT. After obtaining a doctoral degree in 1997, he continued his work at the Department of Fundamentals of Production Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where he is currently employed. The degree of habilitated doctor was awarded to him by the Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in November 2011.
His scientific achievements include over 100 publications, 1 patent, as well as 10 research works and expert opinions for industry and local government units.
Scientific activities of Prof. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz are related to the issues of modern engineering and technical sciences, transport engineering and production engineering, with particular emphasis on the role of maintenance. The issues of predictive maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0 philosophy, play a key role in all his professional activities.
Prof. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz participated in over a dozen research, research and implementation, investment, targeted and industry projects, including two projects financed by the EU, one project financed by the Chinese government, and one implemented under the Norwegian funds.
An important element of his scientific development has been close cooperation with the industry and focus on the applicability of research results, and an equally important aspect of gaining scientific experience has been his inter-institutional and international cooperation. Prof. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz completed a total of 9 research internships in domestic and foreign research centers, including winning a British Council competition for a prestigious scholarship granted by the University of Cambridge (England). After completing his research internship in Cambridge, he was awarded a post-doc scholarship at Kobe University (Japan). In recent years, he has also completed two foreign research internships as visiting professor, among others at Beihang University (Beijing, China). Since 2015, as an expert of the European Commission appointed by the European Innovation Council and Research Executive Agency, he has taken part in the evaluation of national and international projects.
Prof. Dariusz Mazurkiewicz prepared 2 reviews in proceedings for the award of the degree of habilitated doctor and 11 reviews of doctoral dissertations, 4 of which were commissioned by Lithuanian universities. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Motor Transport Institute (Warsaw), appointed by the Minister of Infrastructure.
In 1999, his experience in the field of maintenance and reliability of technical facilities as well as exceptional interest in this subject, made Prof. Mazurkiewicz one of the initiators of the establishment of the scientific quarterly entitled “Eksploatacja i Niezawodność - Maintenance and Reliability” (IF = 2.74), in which he had been the editor-in-chief from its inception until July 2022. He is also a member of scientific councils in 6 prestigious foreign publishing houses, including: "Heliyon Engineering" (Elsevier), "Aviation Journal" (Lithuania), "Advances in Military Technology" (the Czech Republic), "International Journal of Reliability and Safety" (Switzerland) and "Archives of Transport" (Warsaw University of Technology Publishing House).
