Prof. Gopakumar Kumarukuttan Nair and Prof. Ewa Bojar received honorary titles

Professor Gopakumar Kumarukuttan Nair was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, and Professor Ewa Bojar the title of Honorary Professor of Lublin University of Technology. The ceremony took place on May 12, 2022 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in the auditorium named after rector S. Podkowa.

- Prof. Gopakumar Kumarukuttan Nair and Prof. Ewa Bojar have been included today in the group of outstanding scientists awarded the highest university titles by Lublin University of Technology. They have been appreciated for their significant contribution to the development of science, as well as building the current position of our University - says Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of Lublin University of Technology.

Professor Gopakumar Kumarukuttan Nair was born in 1956 in the state of Kerala, India. He works at the Indian Institute of Science in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering and is a world-renowned scientist in the field of power electronics. His main research interests include the control of drives with induction motors with multi-level voltage inverters modulated based on polygonal structures of spatial vectors. He has an excellent publishing record, which includes nearly 300 titles in journals and conference materials. He has promoted 29 doctors and is currently looking after 6 PhD students.

- Lectures conducted at Lublin University of Technology are an expression of direct cooperation with Professor Gopakumar. They are filled with passionate scientific disputes both with the employees and PhD students. The result of joint research are publications in journals of the highest global rank in electrical engineering. Prof. Gopakumar was also a reviewer of the doctoral dissertation, for which our doctoral student received the Prime Minister's Award - informs Prof. Wojciech Jarzyna, the doctoral supervisor.He adds: - The professor is captivated by the Polish culture and nature. He knows Polish history, especially the period related to World War II.

During the ceremony, the title of Honorary Professor of Lublin University of Technology was awarded to Professor Ewa Bojar. Lubliner, scientist, organizer, social worker. For 50 years of her professional work at Lublin University of Technology, she performed many important organizational functions: vice-dean for education at the Faculty of Management and Fundamentals of Technology (1993-1999), vice-rector for science (1999-2002) and dean of the Faculty of Management (2008-2016). For 20 years she was the head of the Department of Economics and Economic Management. For 26 years, she managed the Polish-American project of postgraduate management studies, implemented in cooperation with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Prof. Ewa Bojar's research interests have evolved from microeconomic financial issues and business efficiency in enterprises to meso- and macroeconomic issues related to the transformation of the national economy, the labor market, foreign investments as well as sustainable development. The author of over 200 publications in the field of economics and management sciences. She promoted 9 doctors, contributed to the education of over 3,000 managers, hundreds of undergraduates and graduates.

- In the person of Professor Ewa Bojar, science and the practice of economics and management combine into a wonderful helix of knowledge and skills. The professor is characterized by the ability to build and develop research teams, openness to new scientific concepts as well as creating new theories of organization, management and strategy - emphasizes Prof. Mirosław Wendeker.
