We have signed an agreement with the Jan III Sobieski High School in Lublin

Promoting and developing students' interest in technical sciences is the main goal of the cooperation agreement concluded between Lublin University of Technology and the Jan III Sobieski High School in Lublin. For the university, it is a chance to attract future students and for the high school students - an opportunity to study under the supervision of academic teachers.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Zbigniew Pater, the rector of LUT and Irena Wojtowicz, the director of "Sobieski". The ceremony took place on Friday, November 19 at Lublin University of Technology.

This is what the rector of LUT, Prof. Zbigniew Pater, said: - Lublin University of Technology is a medium-sized university, but in terms of science we are at the forefront. We want talented young people, mainly from Lublin and the Lublin region, to come to us. The Jan III Sobieski High School is a very good school. In this year's "Perspektywy" ranking, it ranks 7th among secondary schools in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. We offer students the same conditions for learning as the largest universities in the country. And the intimacy of our university is also its advantage, because we can approach our students individually.

Irena Wojtowicz, the school director, emphasized the benefits for the high school resulting from the cooperation with Lublin University of Technology: - We want to work on the reputation of our local schools and the Lublin universities. The Jan III Sobieski High School like Lublin University of Technology, is a great school with an intimate character. Last school year, we were one of the five schools in Lublin where all the students passed the matriculation exam on the first attempt. The physics score was around 80%, so I believe that we have the potential of great future engineers whom we would like to educate in Lublin. The contact with the university will allow students to learn the secrets of academic life within the four years of school. They will participate in special lectures and workshops, they will have access to the university's laboratories, which I consider to be a unique opportunity.

The scope of cooperation between both schools is really wide. The agreement allows the high school students to participate in classes at LUT as well as to conduct classes at the high school by the academic staff, e.g. in mathematics or computer science. Students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge by actively participating in numerous programs and events prepared by the university especially for them. They can also take part in selected university-wide events, such as open doors, lessons with LUT, scientific conferences, seminars, and cooperate with students in research clubs. The most talented students, showing broadly understood technical interests, will be provided with substantive care by the employees of Lublin University of Technology.

- The modern world is technology. Hence our concern that young people have to deal with technology as early as possible, that they can use it, but also create it. I am glad that we will cooperate with Lublin University of Technology. I hope we will develop good solutions, good technologies. We will conquer the world with this, providing better employment to people in Lublin - summed up Jacek Bury, the co-owner of EDUCO company, the body running the high school.
