Lublin University of Technology once again the leader of publications in the field of engineering and technical sciences

Lublin University of Technology for the second time received the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Awards in the field of engineering and technical sciences. Thus, the university defended last year's leading position in its category. In this year's edition, the University of Lublin competed with the Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Silesia in Katowice. The award promotes the high quality of research and its internationalization. It is awarded to universities whose research makes the greatest contribution to the perception of Polish science in the world.

The Award Committee took into account the increase in the number of publications in recognized scientific journals, publications with the participation of foreign co-authors and the citation rate in a given field.

The justification of the award states: “Lublin University of Technology increased its output by over 50%, although it was not the highest result. The works of the authors from this university were cited above the world average, 10% of them were in the first decile of the most cited. International cooperation occurred with almost 40% of the documents affiliated to this university. The publication dealing with biodegradable polymers in the area of packaging was cited over 11 times better than similar. "

- It is a great success for which the entire academic community of the Lublin University of Technology worked. The competition was strong, so we appreciate this award all the more. It is a confirmation of the high quality of our publications in the most prestigious scientific journals. In 2020, our scientists published twice as many publications for 200, 140 and 100 points than in 2019. This is a signal that our university is an important scientific and research center in the country and in the world - says Prof. Wojciech Franus, Vice-Rector for Science.

Raising the level of the quality of scientific activity also affects the education process, which in turn translates into the high position of our university.

- We are consistently working on increasing the recognition of our university in the national and international environment. We involve students and doctoral students in conducting research, we compete for the most talented candidates for studies and doctoral schools, also from abroad. The effects are already visible, for example during recruitment. The number of candidates has remained at a similar level for several years - emphasizes prof. Paweł Droździel, vice-rector for student affairs.

The Research Impact Leaders Award is part of Elsevier's global initiative to support the research and advancement of science across multiple disciplines. It is awarded in six areas: agricultural and natural sciences; engineering and technological sciences; humanities; health and medical sciences; exact sciences; social sciences. On behalf of the authorities of the Lublin University of Technology, the award was received by the Vice-Rector for Science, prof. Wojciech Franus.
